This volume provides the first comprehensive history of the arms racing phenomenon in modern international politics, drawing both on theoretical approaches and on the latest historical research. Written by an international team of specialists, it is divided into four sections: before 1914; the inter-war years; the Cold War; and extra-European and post-Cold War arms races. Twelve case studies examine land and naval armaments before the First World War; air, land, and naval competition during the 1920s and 1930s; and nuclear as well as conventional weapons since 1945. Armaments policies are placed within the context of technological development, international politics and diplomacy, and social politics and economics. An extended general introduction and conclusion and introductions to each section provide coherence between the specialized chapters and draw out wider implications for policymakers and for political scientists. Arms Races in International Politics addresses two key questions: what causes arms races and what is the connection between arms races and the outbreak of wars The Real Karl Marx by John Gray The New York Review of Marx the anti-Communist is an unfamiliar figure; but there were undoubtedly times when he shared the view of the liberals of his day and later in which communism History of Diplomacy - International Relations - Oxford General Overviews General overviews of the history of diplomacy not surprisingly tend to be historically oriented although a number of studies especially Police brutality - Wikipedia History The term "police brutality" was in use in the American press as early as 1872 when the Chicago Tribune reported on the beating of a civilian under arrest at American Politics Group (UK) - Updates The Richard E Neustadt Book Prize 2017 The American Politics Group of the PSA is pleased to invite entries for the 2017 Richard E Neustadt Book Prize the top JSTOR: Viewing Subject: Law Access You are not currently logged in Access JSTOR through your library or other institution: login Log in through your institution Africa - Wikipedia At about 3300 BC the historical record opens in Northern Africa with the rise of literacy in the Pharaonic civilization of Ancient Egypt One of the world's earliest ACCELERATE MANIFESTO for an Accelerationist Politics Pie in the sky nonsense!
